BIRCHBOX : LE Seldridges

BIRCHBOX #birchboxatselfridges | September 2015

This post is not a regular Birchbox post, I will not list all the products I got. I just wanted to share my experience and how Birchbox can be fun and nice to put it all together yourself.

In my previous Birchbox post I told you that it was their birthday month and for an extra celebration they have decided to come up with a pop up shop in Selfridges in London Oxford street. The idea is to build your own Birchbox with premium samples and as a bonus if you are a subscriber to their monthly box well a little extra was waiting for you.

I didn’t take any picture of the pop up shop because it was crazy busy and very tiny so sorry about that. Overall I was really glad but some few little details really annoyed me.

First you cannot choose whatever you want in your 6 products. It has to be one of every section which is frustrating because I did own most of the stuff. They have swapped after a couple of weeks all the products so imagine my surprise, I really wanted the tiny Stila Blush but nope I ended up with the lipgloss that I already own. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but for me it is a bummer.

I am glad that I could pick up a new sample of the beauty protector spray because I was out and their website is out of stock and the new Benefit air patrol eye primer is really good so I was happy. The Clarins Face mask is a classic best seller so why not, I love their products and it is a really good sample size.

I also had to choose a “lifestyle” sample, I picked up the pillow spray because well the choices were not really exiting. So a bit disappointed about the misunderstanding of choosing products but hey.

When I received the e-mail saying that I would have 2 free products I was thrilled and again I didn’t get it. I thought I could choose two more samples bu nope instead I got a sharper and some eye googles. At first I thought, REALLY ? Then my make up sharper broke and to be fair the googles are pretty amazing to rest your eyes and take a nice nap.

Overall, happy ! It was nice to get that experience and the staff was very helpful, too bad my hope were crushed. The price of that box was £15 and at the end it was something I don’t regret because more samples is always super cool. I think it is not over yet, it ends on the 27th I think so go get you one if you are in London, it is great to make up your own mind before subscribing and if you are already, it is a nice fun thing to do with your girlfriends !

September Birchbox : Happy Birchday !

BIRCHBOX #happybirchday | September  2015

So september is both Birchbox and I our birthday month. It is so great to receive actually on your birthday the box because yup it arrived on the D day, so amazing. Appart from that I was really pleased and the design of the box is very pretty, we could choose and I went for that one, it is more me. Products inside are once again really great so let’s not wait more, scroll down for some info and pictures!

LAURA MERCIER | Facial Polish | £3.00 (0.4 oz)

Finally a product that I can use on my face from Laura Mercier, I can’t wait to try it. It has a nice peachy scent and the exfoliating balls are so tiny, it is amazing ont the skin, I love the scent so bad! Love that brand so don’t let me down.

JOHN MASTERS ORGANICS| Citrus, Neroli Detangler | £2.00 (30ml)

Such a good size for a sample and I am very surprised because the bottle is full, not half full.  I don’t know the brand at all so I am very curious but so far the scent is good and you know that I am sucker for good hair products. Birchbox already got me addicted to 3 products, so yes more!

LAQA & CO | Cheeky lip pencil in Cray cray| £8.37 (0.03oz)

Yes it is a sample but quite a good size one because believe some lip products sample are sometimes a big joke. Never been really attracted to this brand and I know why now. Bright orange don’t really look good on me so I am going to pass plus it is a matt finish so not for my dry lips but I am sure someone around me is going to love it.

BEAUTY PROTECTOR | Beauty Wash | £2.00 (??)

Can I say that I am madly in love with that brand ? I don’t know what on earth is the scent because to me it smells like Cotton Candy (Hey hey) which is a blast. So the shower gel smells exactly like the hair spray protector, I can’t wait to use it but I save it for my trip to France in November, going to need loads of samples.

BENEFIT | The POREfessional : licence to blot | £5.10 (0.05oz)

I need to confess that I love Benefit sample, cutest in the world no joke! Appart from a mascara I never bought anything full size from that brand which is crazy, I keep on getting samples so why would I pay for it ? At first I wasn’t conviced by that tiny stick that looks like lip balm but after a few use AMAZING ! I am not a oily in my T-zones anymore and the size is perfect for my handbag and I have to say that even if it is small you need just a small amount so it is going to last me a while!

The BIRCHBRUSH | £5.99

That is a really nice gift and a lot of people are raving about those kind of brushes but it doesn’t work for me at all. So it is no ones fault, let’s even forget that it was in the box I will give it to someone and we can all pretend that it never happened.

Extra Extra Extra Extra

WHISH | CC body cream coconut milk | £3.50 (22ml)

I got it as an extra (which  I totally forgot about so imagine my surprise) because I sign up on something so really nice! Love WISH products, amazing smell and great results. Need to learn how to apply CC body cream but I am more than willing to try.

Overall Note : 10/10

I can’t complain of anything. Oh yeah, the brush but we are not meant to talk about it so let’s do it. I love the selection and I am pretty happy with the box plus being delivered on your Birthday is such a nice gift which is a coincidence I know but still. I love the Laura Mercier  Facial Polish and the Beauty Protector Shower gel. For me they are getting better and better so well done, I love how they have improved and I am always discovering something!

Value of the box : £29.96

Tommy Guns, Conditioner Review

Tommy Guns / Fig, Plum and Marshamallow Condtioner

Recently discovered on the Birchbox website and found in a department store in Sloane Square, this conditioner saved my hair and now I can talk about it because I tested it for you for around a good month.

Tommy Guns is correct me if I am wrong a London based hair salon. One is in Soho and the other one is in Shoreditch and they have launched not that long time ago a range of hair care products.

To be fair I am not the type of girl who splurge tones of money on hair products because I always stick to the same hair care routine but considering the fact that I am coloring my hair well sometimes they need an extra push to stay healthy and hydrated.

I have to be honest, the marshmallow part sold that product to me. Yeah I know, but it is a serious selling point for me no joke. I was not disappointed at all, trust me the smell is beyond all my expectations and the price is so affordable, less than my John Frieda one so why not. Depends on where you get it the price is between £5 and £7.

I use that conditioner as a treat to my hair so once a week, so far I used it 5 times and I have seen a big improvement because everything is still the same in my hair care routine appart from that product.

So smell is amazing (check), texture is not too thick but it is not a liquid conditioner either (check). It gives my hair shine, protection and that silk feeling (check). But the biggest change was on my split ends and damaged locks. My hair are way more bouncy and way much softer.

In other words the combo of ingredients are perfect for colored and damaged hair like mine, it gives my thin hair a big boost of healthy treatment but without the heavy texture that some products might give you. It’s like a super powerful medicine for your hair without any sides effect.

I use it as a mask for my hair also, I let it seat for 5 to 10 mn so make sure you have plenty of time (yeah come on, shave your legs, use a scrub or I don’t know clean you shower!). But it is up to you, you can follow the 3mn rule if you want.

Overall it is a 10/10 for me, the bummer is the fact that it is hard to find so it is not the kind of product you can find in boots or superdrug so don’t get too attached, it is a real hunting session to get it but it is worth it.
