Rimmel London | Match Perfection Foundation + Concealer

Rimmel London | Match Perfection Foundation + Concealer Review

I’ve been using the same old things for a long time now and you know, it is hard to get out of your comfort zone and try new things so I picked up a new foundation and concealer and now it is time for an In depth review.

Match Perfection Foundation

I am going to start by giving you the shade I am using and it is “010 light porcelain” and I have to say that they have a good selection of colors. Not sure about darker skin but for light skin there is around 5 different shades which is good. Not the greatest but I am pretty sure that you can mix 2 colors to get your perfect shade, it is such an affordable foundation so you can totally try it.

Application is easy, few drops around the face and you are good to go. I apply it with my beauty blender in few seconds.

The coverage is a medium one and looks really natural. It is not caky and it has that your skin but better feeling. If you have a lot to cover it is probably not your best option but for me it totally does the job. I don’t have any spots or any scars only some rednesses here there so for that matters it is ideal. I also have combination skin and it is a good match for me. Dry overall and oily in my “T” zone so quite a pain to find something suitable that will not fade away or do one job and not the other.

It is long wearing but not crazy long wearing. When I do my make up for work it is fine so it has an 8-10 hours of life without going off. Of course at is a medium coverage I would recommend to powder it just in case. It would fix it and make it last longer. I have tried both and the extra powder step works better.

On the bottle it claims a 24h moisture. Well, I have to say that I apply that foundation without a primer. I’ve tried with and I ended up with some patchy areas and dry spots. So it does gives you that hydrating feeling but not for 24h. But it is vey comfortable to wear and invisible as the packaging claims. I don’t like to have a perfect skin, in fact I like when people see my few freckles and some of my “happy wrinkles” and that foundation let your skin “be” and breath thoughout the day.

Match perfection concealer

I always get the matching concealer when I buy a new foundation and this one came out of nowhere. Didn’t heard anything about it and it was also quite pricy for the brand.

Let’s talk about the packaging first because that is my biggest concern. It is a tube with a brush applicator. Nothing wrong right ? Well it is really hard to squeeze it and on top of everything I always end up using way too much. I was almost out a week after buying it. Very annoying ! Not to mention that it is a mess and that the brush applicator is not ideal and it is hard to manipulate.

The product is a gem. It is a concealer but (wait for it !) a highlighter as well. It brighten the face and the under eye area like nothing, it is thick but not patchy and very easy to blend. I was very surprised and relieved that at least the quality of the product is way better than the packaging.

It is a shame that they choose such a cheap way to sell it. Maybe it is less expensive but a hard wand with a click on applicator (like the l’Oreal one) would have been better. Now I am very confused because I don’t know if I have to buy it again. It is a fifty fifty situation here.

Overall, both of products are amazing and I would really recommend it. Just beware of the big downside of the concealer. At least you will not be surprised. If you get it on offer you can get both of them for £10 which is a drugstore bargain.

Foundation 9/10
Concealer 6/10

Collection Contour Kit | Review

Collection  |  Highlight & Sculpt Contour Kit

I have never been more in love with a contour kit before. I tried a few and as a result of poor results I never spoke about them but this time I am impressed.

Over the years Collection never failed to surprise me. They have an amazing concealer (best drugstore one in my opinion). Great lip pencils and now a very good quality and so cheap (£3.99) contour kit.

When it came out I was surprise of the price and I wasn’t expecting a lot. Packaging is not so great but very convenient. It’s super small and there is a mirror inside so great to carry around with you and for beginners well there is some explanations behind so very well put together.

I love the highlighter, very discrete with some shimmer but just the right amount. It is a nice healthy glow with a champagne reflection. I love the fact that it is not to boom “glitter” in your face and that is was I was afraid of. It stays all day and look perfect on a simple or more evening like make up.

The contouring powder or bronzer (whatever you call it) is also pretty unique for a drugstore item. It is really hard to find for a cheap price a bronzer that is not too orange or too ash grey. This one is perfect for my skin tone and buildable. You can either lightly warm your face or do the all she bang contouring on your face.

The pigmentation is there, you need to be light handed but it is also very easy to control it. It is not powdery but not too smooth either.

I have been using constantly that kit for a long time now and I only reach for it on a daily basis. You have a lot of products for the price and very easy to use.

The only downside is that it comes only in one shade so if you have a darker skin tone I am afraid that you have to pass ladies but the for the price the highlighter is very nice and can be very pretty on various type of girls.

I love that now we get many options in drugstore but this one is a total success, I will give it a 8/10 and I recommend it with my eyes close. Don’t miss any offer in boots or superdrug because you can even get that baby for a cheaper price.

October 2015 Birchbox : Stylist Edition

BIRCHBOX #Stylist | October 2015

This month we had to choose between two boxes and the other one was “back to basics” and I wasn’t really thrilled by the toothpaste so I got the stylist one. I am pretty happy with my choice and again it is getting better and better. I joined a year ago now (happy anniversary to me!) and I will not stop my subscription for the world. It is a great way to get new product and if you don’t like them well come on well all have family members or friends to pass it along so thumbs up to that great company. Now let’s get into the bow below.

100 % pure | fruit pigment lip glaze | £19

Love the fact that it’s a full size. That is pretty unusual for birchbox and when you look at the price it is very exiting. The smell is very strong but in a good way. It is very natural and the pigmentation from another world for a lip glaze I love it. Can’t wait now to see if it is hydrating and comfortable on the lips.

Bioderma | Sensibio H20 | £0.80

Not going to lie, that is a very small sample but good enough for a week or so I would say. Never tried anything from Bioderma and this particular product is pretty famous amongst beauty Blogger/ YouTuber so I am very pleased to finally sample it (even if the sample is tiny!).

Parlor by Jeff Chastain | Smoothing Blowout Spray | £3.45

When I opened my box and picked up that spray I almost cried (not out of joy) because first I totally forgot which box was coming so I was not aware at all then I was disappointed by the sea salt spray that at first I thought it was that one. Thanks God it is not and it smells really good. Now can’t wait to try it as I am looking for more new hair care lately.

Rituals | Yogi flow foaming shower gel | £2.12

Love Rituals. The scrub and body I got are amazing but yet another shower gel. I love though that it is a foaming one. Never tried anything in that shape and it smells good very relaxing so perfect to grab with me on my holidays.

When | Travelmate sheet mask | £6.25

Sheet masks are so the trend lately. I don’t know how I feel about it. It is 30mn with a sheet on your face so for me sounds long and annoying so I will either try it just to review it or give it away. But it is full size and those masks are very expensive so I clap my hands for the effort.

Bonus | English Laundry N7 signature for her | £1.00

This perfume smells good, that is a fact but come one it is the second one. The sample size is a joke (I mean you can get that in any drugstore for free) and they are presenting it as a “bonus” item, come one guys ! You can do better ! But yeah it is a nice clean smell that last all day.

Overall Note : 8/10

Overall I love it. I don’t know I how feel yet about picking my box because lately I feel that we don’t have anymore surprises. I know I could avoid spoilers but being a blogger it is hard to avoid social medias in general. Anyway I will use every single sample (still debating about the sheet mask) so it is a good box and come one for £10 a month it is great to test new brands.

Value of the Box : £32.62
